THE BEST PART: Wide, sandy trail with nice scenery all the way, cool waterfall at the top and some creek access along the way. Rarely used by horses or bikers as it is a short dead-end.

THE WORST PART: It's steep for most of the 1.7 miles! Be careful of slippery rock stairs on the final climb past the lower falls.

LEASHES: Required

FEES: Required throughout the park, $5 a day or $25 for the year (also good at Lassen). Administered by National Park Service

HAZARDS: Rattlesnakes, bears and mountain lions are occasionally encountered, lots of ticks.
