THE BEST PART: 3/4 mile shaded trail down to the shore of Shasta Lake. However, the cute shady stream at the bottom of the gulch is much cleaner and cooler than the lake!

HAZARDS: Abundant poison oak, some ticks, remote chance of rattlesnakes, bears, & cougars

HOW TO GET THERE: From Mt Shasta, take I-5 south to the Packer's Bay (exit 693), turn right, go down the hill until you see the trailhead parking on the right.

From Redding, take I-5 to the Shasta Caverns/Packer's Bay exit, circle around and get back on freeway going south. Take the Packer's Bay (exit 693), turn right, go down the hill until you see the trailhead parking on the right.
