THE BEST PART: Flat single-wide trail that runs 2 miles along the lakeshore, several water access points (VERY cold near creek inlet).
FEES: Required throughout the park, $5 a day or $25 for the year (also good at Lassen). Administered by National Park Service
HAZARDS: Rattlesnakes, bears and mountain lions are occasionally
encountered, lots ticks, minor poison oak along trail. Sometimes bikers, usually no equestrians.
