THE BEST PART: Quiet, easy access, shady, lots of creek access.

USER FAVORITES: East Weaver Creek Trail (2 mi loop) starts with a gentle, mile-long grade up to a wooden bridge. There is interesting (and steep) terrain as you follow it back on the other side of the creek.

LEASHES: Optional

FEES: None

HAZARDS: Lots of ticks. Some bikes and equestrians and the trail is narrow so keep your dog in sight or belled. Rattlesnakes, bear and mountain lions possible.

LEASHES: Not required

DIRECTIONS: From downtown Weaverville, take Highway 3 north (well marked, a couple blocks west of the Joss House). Go past the airport and turn left on East Weaver Creek Rd. Follow the road to the campground. The trailhead is just past the campground, before the huge water tank.
